In 2019, deputy registrars were eligible to receive a reimbursement, based on a formula from a set appropriation, for certain expenses incurred in their duties. The reimbursements were paid in 2019. Generally, this type of payment is included in gross income and subject to tax.
This bill would allow a Minnesota subtraction for deputy registrar reimbursement grants made to individual and corporate taxpayers, effective for tax year 2019 only.
