SF 1517 provides a licensed veterinarian, acting in good faith and in the normal course of business, with immunity from civil and criminal liability for an action arising from a report of suspected animal cruelty.
Under current law, an “animal” means every living creature except humans and “cruelty” means every act, omission, or neglect which causes or permits unnecessary or unjustifiable pain, suffering, or death.
Effective Date: This bill is effective August 1, 2020, and applies to actions committed on or after that date.
