Section 1 (256B.0659, subdivision 1) specifies that “traveling” as that term is currently used in the PCA statute’s definition of instrumental activities of daily living includes driving and accompanying an individual receiving personal care assistance services when the individual travels. Under current law, a personal care assistant may assist in traveling. The language in the bill clarifies what “assisting in traveling” means.
Section 2 (256B.0659, subdivision 6) requires assessors to specify in the PCA recipient’s service plan the particular travel needs of the recipient, such as whether the recipient needs to be driven by the PCA or accompanied by the PCA.
