SF 153 directs the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) to develop proposed guidelines with respect to EMTs, advanced EMTs, or paramedics assisting a patient with the administration of certain prescription drugs in emergency situations.
Paragraph (a) directs the EMSRB to develop proposed guidelines permitting EMTs, Advanced EMTs, and paramedics to assist with administering prescription drugs in emergency situations provided the drugs are previously prescribed, carried by the patient, intended to treat a life-threating condition, and administered in a manner within the scope of training of the EMT, Advanced EMT or paramedic administering the drug.
Paragraph (b) requires the EMSRB to submit proposed guidelines and draft legislation to the Legislature by January 1, 2020.
