S.F. No. 882 creates an exemption from training and background study requirements for relatives of children in child care, and an exemption from training requirements for emergency substitute caregivers.
Section 1 (245A.50, subd. 12) exempts relatives of children in child care programs from having to complete child care training requirements in order to care for or have contact with the related child at the child care site. Relatives that are designated caregivers, helpers, or substitutes for the child care program must complete the training requirements.
Section 2 (245A.50, subd. 13) exempts substitute caregivers from completing child care training requirements when providing care during an emergency situation.
Section 3 (245C.03, subd. 1) amends the child care provider background study requirements to exempt relatives of children in child care programs, unless the relative is a designated caregiver, helper, or substitute of the child care program.
