S.F. No. 1036 amends the chapter of law relating to town officers.
Section 1 (367.03, subdivision 4) provides that the term for town officers elected in November commences the day after taking the oath of office, instead of the first Monday in January.
Section 2 (367.25, subdivision 1) requires that persons elected in November take the oath required by law within ten days after receiving a certificate or notice of election or appointment. Language is stricken that requires persons elected in the November election to take oath before assuming office.
Section 3 (367.36, subdivision 1) paragraph (b), requires a biennial audit, instead of an annual audit, of the town’s financial affairs by the state auditor or public accountant if the offices of the clerk and treasurer are combined, and the town’s annual revenue is over the amount specified in paragraph (c), which is $150,000 adjusted for inflation.
Paragraph (c) strikes outdated language.
