Section 1. Advisory council. Requires that each district’s community education advisory council make written recommendations to the community education director and to the school board on the use of general community education revenue. Requires that a school board take public testimony on the advisory council's written recommendations.
Section 2. General community education revenue. Beginning in fiscal year 2020, increases the general community education revenue allowance (allowance blank in bill as introduced).
Section 3. Uses of general revenue. Authorizes a district to use general community education revenue for programs, including programs offered by other nonschool organizations, consistent with the purpose of community education programs under section 124D.18: “to make maximum use of the public schools of Minnesota by the community and to expand utilization by the school of the human resources of the community….”
Section 4. Appropriations. Appropriates money for community education aid.
