1.2Page 1, after line 29, insert:

1.3    "Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 120A.22, is amended by adding a subdivision
1.4to read:
1.5    Subd. 4a. Home school requirements. (a) A home school is a school of students related
1.6by parent or legal guardian, directed by the students' parent or legal guardian, or, with the
1.7parent or legal guardian's written permission, a school directed by another individual who
1.8meets requirements for an instructor under subdivision 10. The home school primary address
1.9must be a residence in Minnesota.
1.10(b) "Directing a home school" means the home school parent or legal guardian, or
1.11instructor under subdivision 10, is responsible for selecting the students' materials,
1.12curriculum, and instruction plan; providing assessments required by subdivision 11 and
1.13maintaining or reporting records of required assessments; choosing the time, location, and
1.14method for daily instruction; and issuing transcripts and diplomas. Directing a home school
1.15has the same meaning as operating a home school.
1.16(c) An individual with a conviction of, admission to, or Alford plea to one or more crimes
1.17listed in section 245C.15, subdivision 1, regardless of whether the conviction or admission
1.18is a felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor level crime is disqualified from directing
1.19or operating a home school. A home school educator must not operate a home school if any
1.20other adult residing in the home or home school setting has been convicted of or admitted
1.21to a crime described in this paragraph."

1.23Amend the title accordingly
