1.1Senator Gazelka moved to amend
H.F. No. 729 as follows:
1.2Delete everything after the enacting clause and insert:
1.3 "Section 1.
APPROPRIATIONS; DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
1.4(a) $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2021 is appropriated from the general fund to the
1.5commissioner of public safety for costs directly attributable to additional public
safety
1.6assistance for civil unrest through the Interstate Emergency Management Assistance
1.7Compact, under Minnesota Statutes, section 192.89. This is a onetime appropriation.
1.8(b) $6,300,000 in fiscal year 2021 is appropriated from the general fund to the
1.9commissioner of public safety to pay for state trooper expenses related to civil unrest,
1.10including costs arising from restoring or maintaining civil order. This is a onetime
1.11appropriation. The commissioner may transfer money appropriated under this paragraph
to
1.12the commissioner of natural resources to pay for conservation officer expenses related
to
1.13civil unrest.
1.14(c) The commissioner must report all expenses paid from appropriations under this
1.15section to the chairs and ranking minority members of the senate Finance Committee
and
1.16the house of representatives Ways and Means Committee. The report under this paragraph
1.17must be submitted by September 15, 2021.
1.18EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment."
