S.F. No. 1855 - Ramsey County Supported Work Program

Author: Senator John Marty

Prepared By: Priyanka Premo, Senate Counsel (651/296-3914)

Date: March 10, 2017

Generally, entry into the classified service in Ramsey County must take place through successful competition in an examination, certification, and appointment process.

S.F. 1855 provides an exemption from the competitive process for positions filled through a supported work program. Through the supported work program, Ramsey County may fill up to five full-time positions in the county with people with disabilities who require continued support from a job coach.

Each position may be shared by up to three persons with disabilities and a job coach. The job coach is not considered a Ramsey County employee.
