S.F. No. 556 - Deposit of Motor Vehicle Rental or Lease Taxes to Corridors of Commerce Program

Author: Senator Gary H. Dahms

Prepared By: Nora Pollock, Senate Counsel (651/297-8066)

Date: February 14, 2017

Under current law, revenue derived from the motor vehicle lease or rental sales tax is deposited to the general fund. The 9.2% tax applies to the sales price of leases or rentals of passenger automobiles for not more than 28 days. This bill appropriates the revenue from that tax to the corridors of commerce program authorized under the transportation statutes.
